SpeechNet

Privacy Policy

Version 2026-10-19 · Last updated 19 October 2026

Short version: your voice never leaves your Mac. The free version doesn't need an account and sends nothing. If you use Pro, we keep only what's needed to sign you in, count your credits and record payments, and you can download or delete it any time.

Who we are

SpeechNet is made by SpeechNet (New Zealand). Contact: Tyrianhelp@gmail.com.

The app, free version (no account)

Accounts and Pro

You only need an account for Pro. When you have one, this is what we hold and why:

Smart Polish (Pro)

The text of each dictation (never the audio), plus words from your personal dictionary, is sent over an encrypted connection to our server. The server passes it to Anthropic's Claude to clean up, then returns the result. We don't store or log the text. Anthropic processes it under its commercial API terms, under which it doesn't train its models on this text by default (Anthropic's privacy policy). Turn Smart Polish off in Settings and the app goes fully offline again.

Payments

Credit packs are sold by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle is the legal seller: it collects your payment details, billing address and tax information, sends receipts, and handles refunds, under Paddle's privacy policy. We never see your card number. Paddle tells us a payment went through, so we keep the transaction ID, which pack it was, the credits added, and the date.

Who helps us run SpeechNet

These companies process data for us, only to provide the service:

Their servers may be outside New Zealand, including in the United States and Europe. We don't sell your data and don't share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep things

Your controls and rights

In SpeechNet → Settings → Account and Pro → Account, you can download my data (everything our server holds about you, as a file), sign out on all devices, and delete my account, which removes your account, sessions and credit log straight away. Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, and laws like the GDPR where they apply, you can also ask us to correct your information or explain how it's used: email Tyrianhelp@gmail.com. You can complain to the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner, or your local data protection authority.

Security

Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only in hashed form, so a leak of our database wouldn't let anyone sign in as you. On your Mac, your sign-in is kept in the macOS Keychain. Sign-in attempts are limited, and a code stops working after 5 wrong tries.

Children

SpeechNet isn't aimed at children under 13, and accounts are for people 13 and older. Under-18s need a parent or guardian's permission to create an account or buy credits. If you think a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the version at the top changes, and the app asks you to accept it the next time you sign in.
